Finding Connections with Interdisciplinary Teaching
Brain science teaches us that learning depends on making relevant connections. As teachers we have opportunities to make connections between the past and present, between student lives and the community around them, but sometimes we miss out on opportunities to help them make connections between disciplines. This presentation will describe why collaborating with teachers from other disciplines can benefit students, resources that will help teachers do it effectively, and describe our attempt to help kids make connections between English and history in a 7th grade program called PUSH.
